I don't want to be a critique and leave a mean comment so I'm just going to say that although I'm not a fan of the toon-like appearance it is still a great interpretation of the game and is nicely drawn and detailed.
Now... -THIS- is how it's done! If Nintendo is so fond of doing remakes, they really should remake Zelda 1 and 2 to have these kinds of graphics. Heck, I spent about 140$ back in the 1980's to buy those 2 games when they first came out for the NES... and I'd gladly do the same for any remake, especially if the 2d graphics quality was this great.
Now, if Zelda1 and Zelda2 were to ever be remade in the style of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 or 3 (meaning a 2D view, with either 2D bitmap sprites or 3D/CG-animated characters against a 3D stage/level/background), then heck yeah, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! I've been known to buy a gaming system for just one game for the entire lifespan of the game system itself. lol.
I usually don't like the "Games in HD" stuff, but this one looks pretty nice. I wish Zelda II would return in some form, like with New Super Mario Bros... "New Adventures of Link" ...sigh... that would be great.
Holy shit! This conceptual illustration is unbelievable! All visual elements (e.g. characters, scenery) were drawn in incredible detail and have rich textures!
I also like how you used an actual screenshot from the game as reference! It looks very accurate to the original image! Finally, I really like the new background to add more emphasis to weather and time.
If Nintendo ever remade Zelda II, I would recommend you as an artist!
